Position Description

The University of Iowa’s Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine Carver College of Medicine in collaboration with the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science is seeking to hire a medical anthropologist for an appointment as an Associate or an Assistant Professor in the Tenure Track to build a program in implementation and translational science.  Successful candidates must have a PhD degree with an additional degree or post-doctoral training in implementation science and quality improvement, health services research, or public health preferred.    This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored employment authorization – sponsorship for H1B status.

Required Qualifications

Candidates will be required to develop a research focus that can lead to independent funding in a range of clinical areas related to health care services, delivery, and quality with a focus on implementation and translational science.

Successful candidates must be able to collaborate with other faculty in the design and execution of innovative research programs and assist other faculty with qualitative and implementation research methods.

The successful candidate is required to have excellent communication and leadership skills, excellent organization skills and demonstrate job-related experience with a commitment to diversity in the academic setting.

Desirable Qualifications

The successful candidate should have peer-reviewed publications as first/senior author, presentations at national research meetings, be actively involved in relevant professional organizations, and have expertise in implementation science and qualitative methods in healthcare contexts, specifically ethnographic methods.

Additional degree or post-doctoral training in implementation science and quality improvement, health services research, or public health preferred.
