The resource “Making Physician Feedback Reports More Effective,” by Peggy McNamara, MSPH, and Robert J. McNellis, MPH, PA at the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and published by NEJM Catalyst early January, discusses factors that improve the effectiveness of physician feedback reports in health care organizations.  Although many health care organizations are developing physician feedback reports to promote physician awareness of their individual performance, these reports do not always result in improved performance. The author’s offer recommendations, borrowing from evidence-based report design, to promote physician engagement, performance awareness, and improve performance.
