Implementation—Theory and Application in Health Care

The implementation research group at Linköping University offers an annual course at postgraduate level, “Implementation – Theory and Application in Healthcare” (5 credits). The course has been taught yearly since 2011, with participants from all over the country and from neighboring Nordic countries. Teachers in the course are from Linköping University as well as from other universities.

This PhD-level course provides a broad introduction to the development of implementation science and the research conducted in this field. The aim is to increase understanding of the problems of implementation in healthcare and convey in-depth knowledge of relevant theories and frameworks that is of practical use in the participants’ own implementation studies.

The course is taught in English. Work is conducted at half speed and course participants will meet in Linköping on three occasions for lectures and group discussions. Course material will be studied in between these meetings. The course relies on discussions whereby the experiences of students and lecturers guide which implementation issues will be taken under consideration.
