Research in Social & Administrative Pharmacy – Themed Issue on Implementation Science
With guest editors Geoffrey Curran, PhD, and Sarah J. Shoemaker, PhD, PharmD
Submission due date has been extended to September 30, 2016
Implementation research in pharmacy is critical to the successful advancement and scaling up of interventions. Advancing evidence on what actually works, and why, in pharmacy settings will inform successful approaches in the future. Implementation science, its theories, and its models offer significant opportunity for advancing pharmacy and patient care. This themed on implementation science in Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy will feature proposed models, original research, reviews, and editorials and commentaries from leaders in the field and promises to advance our current knowledge and establish a path for future work in this area.
Examples of manuscript topics for the special, themed issue:
- Studies examining the experiences of implementing new professional services (e.g., MTM, immunizations, rapid HIV testing) into community pharmacy practice settings
- Articles describing the implementation of interventions or models that involve pharmacy or pharmacists in other health care settings (e.g., transitions of care after discharge and programs involving pharmacists’ roles in primary care)
- Evaluations of initiatives to implement evidence into pharmacy settings
- Study of the implementation of new policies or regulations affecting pharmacies
- Models for understanding implementation in pharmacy settings
- Applications of different frameworks or theories (e.g., Diffusion of Innovations, Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research, RE-AIM) for understanding implementation in pharmacy
- Articles describing development and testing of implementation strategies/interventions designed specifically for pharmacy practices and/or settings
