Postdoctoral fellowship opportunity in Implementation Science at UCSD and UCLA [until filled – start date July 1, 2017]

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral fellowship positions under the direction of Dr. Anna Lau in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles and Dr. Lauren Brookman-Frazee in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego and the Child & Adolescent Services Research Center (CASRC). Drs. Lau and Brookman-Frazee are PIs on a multi-site NIMH-Funded study entitled, “Sustainment of Multiple EBP’s Fiscally Mandated in Children’s MH Services” (known locally as “4KEEPS: Knowledge Exchange on Evidence-based Practice Sustainment”). The purpose of this observational study is to characterize implementation sustainment and identify organizational and therapist characteristics that predict sustainment of multiple practices being implemented within a fiscal mandate in the nation’s largest public mental health system.

The UCSD and UCLA fellows will work closely together with the investigators to analyze quantitative data from large scale surveys, administrative claims, observational coding of therapist delivery of EBP strategies, and qualitative data from key informant interviews. In this phase of the study, there will be ample opportunities for publications, conference presentations and collaboration on grant proposals. Additionally, fellows will assist in a community partnered process to translate findings. Fellows will receive joint mentoring from the PIs and study investigators, have access to broader training opportunities across both sites, support for conference travel, and obtain supervised professional experience hours for Psychologist licensure.

Strong applicants will have experience in community implementation of evidence-based practices, multi-level modeling, mixed qualitative and quantitative methods and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Appointments will be made for one year, with a second year re-appointment expected based on review of the fellow’s progress. We anticipate that the fellowship will be available July 1, 2017, although the start date is flexible. The current stipend for first year fellows is commensurate with the standard National Institutes of Health rate and is eligible for benefits.
