The UCSF Research in Implementation Science for Equity (RISE) program is part of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Program to Increase Diversity among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE). The goal of the PRIDE program is to enhance the diversity of the biomedical research workforce for junior faculty and transitioning post-doctorates from diverse backgrounds to enable them to become competitive independent scientists.

The UCSF RISE program consists of a Summer Institute on both Implementation Science (ImS) and Careers-In-Progress (CIP). The Implementation Science Institute will include didactic training with a focus on developing skills related to:

  • ImS conceptual thinking that orients scholars’ research on heart and lung disease
  • Conduct of research to include ImS strategies and study/evaluation designs
  • Creation of inter-disciplinary implementation teams
  • Enhancing academic skills like manuscript development, grant preparation, and oral presentations
  • Addressing self-efficacy and positive scientific career outcome expectations
