Applications are requested for a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research on the health of the Francophone population in the minority context using routinely collected data. The successful applicant will be funded through the Institut du savoir Montfort (ISM) and Hôpital Montfort and will be expected to use data housed at the Ottawa site of the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and at the Hôpital Montfort.
This opportunity will allow the fellow to develop a program of research in the area of the health of the Francophone population in the minority context, with a focus that can be tailored to interest and opportunities for funding that arise. Topics may include: measuring health determinants and status, health care system performance measurement, health care access, quality and safety, health care costs and efficiency, care transitions, language barriers, and data quality of the linguistic variables.
The fellowship includes a research stipend, innovative research and teaching experiences, and mentorship. The fellowship is for a 12-month period, with the possibility for extension.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold a PhD or MD before the start of the fellowship.
- Applicants must be fluently bilingual (French, English).
- Applicants must participate full-time.
- The fellow must focus their research on the health of the Francophone population in the minority context, and champion the development of research methods and data analysis for the Francophone population in minority context.
- Must have strong analytic skills, with pre-requisite training in statistics/bio-statistics and in epidemiology (although their degree does not necessarily have to be in these disciplines).
- Should have had experience conducting quantitative research using large routinely-collected databases.
