The South Central (SC) Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Centers (MIRECC) Advanced Fellowship Program are accepting applications for fellows to participate in the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. The SC MIRECC’s mission is to promote equity in engagement, access, and quality of mental healthcare to Veterans facing barriers to care, especially rural Veterans.

This two-year postdoctoral fellowship in psychology or psychiatry trains fellows for future leadership roles in research, education, and clinical services. Applied clinical research and education activities make up 75% of fellowship training, and formal clinical training rotations make up 25% of the fellowship. Core research areas include:

• Implementation of evidence-based treatment
• Brief interventions for substance use disorders
• Computer-based technology in mental health treatment
• Evidence-based practices in clinical settings
• Implementation science
• Primary care and mental health integration
• Qualitative Methods
• Rural populations access to treatment
• Rural/urban disparities in care
• Telemedicine

By the end of the fellowship program, fellows should be ready to pursue entry-level leadership roles, which integrate state-of-the-art research, education, and clinical approaches to mental health in the VA healthcare system and other settings. Fellows pursuing academic clinical-research careers should also be ready to submit applications for career development awards (such as VA Career Development Awards or NIH K-Awards) toward the end of their fellowship.
