Open Rank Faculty Position, Children’s Mercy Kansas City

The Division of Health Services and Outcomes Research at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is embarking on a multi-year initiative to enhance the depth and breadth of our academic research enterprise. Over the next five years, we will recruit several new colleagues to enhance our existing strengths and/or broaden our capacity to fulfil our mission to improve the health and care of children and their families locally, nationally and internationally. We invite applications from all dynamic junior and established scholars who can contribute to our mission and want to play a foundational role in the development of our division which includes the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Core (BEC) and planned Community and Stakeholder Engagement Core.

We invite applications for one or more faculty positions (rank open) in the area of Dissemination and Implementation science.

We seek qualified individuals with expertise in the translation of research findings and evidence into effective healthcare interventions, programs and policy. Candidates should have experience with a variety of implementation theories, models and frameworks (e.g. CFIR, Precede-Proceed, PRISM, RE-AIM) and experience with a variety of evaluative processes and data analysis methods. Candidates that study social, behavioral, economic, and management factors that impact implementation of evidence-based health interventions will be highly valued. Successful candidates will be expected to educate other faculty on the application of Dissemination and Implementation Science principles in health research, conduct original research and/or collaborate with research teams across disciplines, publish peer reviewed papers and seek extramural funding for their research program. Candidates should have a PhD or other applicable advanced degree in a discipline such as Implementation Science, Public Health, Healthcare Administration and Management, Health Services Research, or related field.

Consistently ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals, Children’s Mercy integrates innovative clinical care, research and academic advancement to transform outcomes for half a million children in Kansas City and across the globe. In 2018, the Children’s Research Institute received $150 million from the Hall Family Foundation and the Sunderland Family Foundation, the largest one-time gift ever made to a children’s hospital for pediatric research. This funding will support construction of a new 375,000 square foot building, as well as extensive investments in faculty, staff, and programs, all dedicated to pediatric research.

Successful candidates will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty across Children’s Mercy and national/international partner institutions. We have mature collaborations with more than 50 hospitals and academic institutions worldwide, and strong ties with regional partners such as the University of Kansas, University of Kansas Medical Center, University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Stower’s Research Institute, which provide a rich research environment and support for continued professional development. Children’s Mercy’s Center for Pediatrics Genomic Medicine (first of its kind in a children’s hospital), Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutic Innovation, Center for Healthy Lifestyles and Nutrition, and the Center for Bioethics are well-recognized for their research and scholarly contributions and provide ample opportunities for research collaboration. Children’s Mercy serves as the Department of Pediatrics for both the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Schools of Medicine and our faculty hold appointments at one or both. CHKC is a core member of Frontiers: The Heartland Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (a $20 million Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Institutes of Health headquartered at the University of Kansas Medical Center) and a consortium partner in the National Cancer Institute-designated University of Kansas Cancer Center.
