The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center seeks applications from faculty candidates who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of their community of scholars. Located in Seattle, Washington, Fred Hutch is one of the world’s leading academic research centers. In keeping with their commitment, Fred Hutch invites applications for an inaugural cohort of up to five faculty members in any discipline related to cancer, infectious disease, or basic biology research. Successful candidates will be invited to join one or more of Fred Hutch’s five scientific divisions: Basic Science, Clinical Research, Human Biology, Public Health Sciences, and Vaccine and Infectious Disease. Faculty will join a supportive and highly collaborative environment. In addition, Fred Hutch has outstanding facilities and cutting-edge shared resources to support faculty. It also has strong ties with its consortium partners which include the University of Washington, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and Seattle Children’s Hospital. Graduate students are drawn from various departments and programs at the University of Washington. Applications received before November 30th, 2020 will be given full consideration by the search committee though this search will remain open until it is completed. Interested candidates should submit: 1) a curriculum vitae; 2) a concise research statement that describes past accomplishments and future goals (three pages or less); 3) a diversity statement describing your past contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion and your future plans for continuing these efforts (two pages or less); and 4) contact information for three letters of recommendation. All components must be submitted for the application to move forward in the review process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Evidence of contributions to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion through previous work, proposed efforts, and/or depth of understanding.
  • Assistant Professor appointment: Applicants must have a PhD, MD or foreign equivalent
  • Associate Professor appointment: Applicants must have a PhD, MD or foreign equivalent, demonstrated academic leadership skills and a research program commensurate with rank.
  • Full Professor appointment: Applicants must have a PhD, MD or foreign equivalent, demonstrated academic leadership skills and a research program commensurate with rank.
