The mission of the UCSF Partnerships for Research in Implementation Science for Equity (PRISE) Center is to advance the use of implementation science methods to improve health and health equity. The PRISE Center forms strong partnerships with clinicians, public health practitioners and community partners at the local, national, and international level. PRISE identifies implementation challenges in collaboration with implementing partners and conduct innovative implementation research to increase the uptake of proven, evidence-based interventions. PRISE also develops opportunities for training in implementation science and health equity. The PRISE Center is a joint initiative of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and the Department of Medicine at ZSFG, with additional support from Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and School of Medicine Dean’s Office for Population Health and Health Equity.

In close collaboration with implementing partners, PRISE Center faculty are currently working on several implementation research initiatives in a range of clinical and public health settings including: the areas of addiction and overdose prevention and treatment, COVID-19 health disparities in the Bay Area and throughout the state of California, immigrant health, digital health and health disparities, and building research capacity to engage vulnerable communities in studying climate impacted health conditions. The PRISE Center invites applications for a post-doctoral fellow to join a team of interdisciplinary scholars focused on collaborating closely with implementing partners to design, conduct and disseminate implementation research focused on improving uptake of evidence-based practices and policies that improve health equity.

The PRISE Center is seeking a fellow with program evaluation and implementation science training and experience who will lead design of clinical and public health outcome and impact evaluations and advance partnered research initiatives. The fellow will also support with implementation research study design, quantitative and qualitative data analyses, manuscripts, conference presentations, grant writing, white papers, and policy briefs. The Center seeks opportunities to communicate their findings broadly, including peer-reviewed scientific literatures as well as non-peer reviewed sources.

The PRISE Center is seeking a highly motivated scholar to join a multidisciplinary team for a 2-year postdoctoral program, with possibility of extension for an additional year. This is a full-time position based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Dr. Margaret Handley, PRISE Center Co-Director and Professor of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, and will have the opportunity to join a vibrant network of junior and senior scholars for additional mentorship in implementation science and health equity research across a range of topic areas. Additional mentoring will be provided by Dr. Adithya Cattamanchi, PRISE Center Co-Director and Professor of Medicine.

Minimum qualifications:

• Postdoctoral program applicants must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in epidemiology, health or public health, urban policy, social work, sociology, anthropology, economics, health services research, or a related field. Strong program evaluation, quantitative or qualitative analytical and writing skills are required. 
• Previous experience in program evaluation of clinical and/or public health programs, implementation research, social determinants of health, health and/or racial disparities is highly desired. Methodological expertise in quasi-experimental study designs, cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses, qualitative and mixed methods research is highly desirable. Experience in Stata, R, or SAS for quantitative analyses and Atlas.ti., Dedoose or Nvivo for qualitative analyses is required.

Scholars will be expected to conduct statistical and/or qualitative research analysis, publish first-authored manuscripts on projects aligned with the primary research topic, present findings at national conferences and disseminate with local partners, and prepare grant applications to establish research independence. In keeping with PRISE’s goal of training the next generation of strategic scientists, fellows will also be expected to pursue communication opportunities beyond the peer-reviewed literature such as op-eds, policy briefs or white papers.
