VA Advanced Fellowship Program in Mental Illness Research and Treatment, The Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare System
The Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare System at Little Rock, AR, invites applications for a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in mental health research and treatment. The duration of the fellowship is August 2024 to September 2026. This fellowship is associated with the South Central VA Mental Illness Research, and Education Center and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The training program is designed to prepare associated health professionals (e.g., social workers, pharmacists, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists) for future leadership roles in research, education, and clinical services, particularly in academic and medical care settings such as the Veterans Health Administration.
Fellows will have opportunities for collaboration and mentoring with national leaders to develop a research career in a wide variety of research topics, including implementation science, telehealth, posttraumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, suicide prevention, primary care mental health integration, and health services research on access and quality of mental healthcare. Individualized mentored research is combined with a state-of-the-art curriculum including statistics, epidemiology, mental health systems, and innovative research strategies and methods. Fellows spend 25% of their time developing advanced clinical skills and 75% of their time in research. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
